Banarasi Silk Brocade Neck Tie
Have you heard of a Banarasi Silk Brocade NeckTie before? This is my first. I did a photo shoot of a wide variety of neckties for my dear friend today and came across this one.
The texture of the fabric attracted me to it, absolutely beautifully and evenly woven design. If you, like me, google every tiny thing that attracts your attention, then let me be that google for you today. I ll break down the fabric description for you.
Banarasi means made in the holy city of Banaras also called Varanasi in the state of Uttar Pradesh in Northern India. Many westerners while visiting India never forget to visit this holy city of Banaras.
Silk is a fabric woven out of a very fine strand of fiber that is a solidified protein secretion produced by certain caterpillars to encase themselves in the form of a cocoon. 100% pure silk is THE most exotic and sought after fabric in the world and India is the 2nd highest producer of it.
And Brocade is an age old (centuries old) embossing technique of colorful or gold or silver threads on silk or any other fabric.
The trio above is a jackpot combination in fabric and my favorite as well.
And a neck tie made of it, WOW!
